How to “Handle the National Pallet shortages

If you’re someone who is feeling the effects of the current pallet shortage, don’t feel like you’re alone. Because of the pandemic and the like, a lot of companies are dealing with this problem. Lots of companies are struggling to get the items that they need for proper business running. This is something that a lot of businesses struggle with, as they need the products to transport, secure and properly store. What’s the reason behind this? How can companies properly manage this? What can you do to ensure that you’re constantly on top of the pallet game? Read on to find out.

What it IS

Basically, this is the problem that a lot of companies have at the moment, where they can’t secure the items that they have in order to store and transport, since they don’t have the pallets that they need to ensure that they can do the business.

They’re looking for new vendors, and a lot of them are struggling to keep core customers in place already. The cause of this is due to many things. While covid is a major player in this, it’s not the only issue. There are other issues related to pallets that are coming forth too., and they include the following:

  • The companies are rationing supplies

  • Lumber shortages

  • They inventory for pallets is increasing

  • Gas prices

  • Labor shortages

  • No trucks

  • The dwell time for inventory increasing

  • Shipping container issues

  • The shortages of resin

  • This Is definitely something that’s becoming a major problem for many, and there are a few ways people are looking to fix this.

How to Navigate

There is a lot that’s happening right now at the present moment, and you may feel like there is nothing that you can do. However, you definitely want to make sure that you understand that there are a few solutions that are there. The first, is to find better vendors, and properly source them. the right company will have the pallets that you need. Renting out pallets is another option. This is great for those who aren’t interested in buying for the long term and can pay for a rental.

If you’re able to find pallets, you should try to buy them recycled, or remanufactured. These are all still valid pallets, as they still have the same form as before. Some companies are also considering the option of buying new pallets.  New pallets are being created, but they do carry with it the costs. Then of course, there is finding your own pallets through the networking that you do. If you have a strong network of people, asking them for pallets can be a viable solution.

Finally, you want to make sure that you understand what’s called the “ABCs” of pallets. You have A pallets, B pallets, and C pallets respectively. The A pallets are brand new so they look like they are, but they’re made from a softwood that’s used practically no energy. These are the strongest and the most robust, and they’re the most expensive. B pallets aren’t totally new, but they’re not old, they’re basically in good condition and have some use, but they tend to be cheaper, and are a good option for handling loads.

Then there are C pallets, which have been through the ringer. They may be okay or look totally terrible. Some may be unusable, but you may get lucky. You can use these tips to navigate, and hopefully when you’re able to utilize the pallets that you need, you can ship more items.

Subscription Box Packaging that Wins

There’s been a large growth in subscription box packaging and the industry surrounding it. With that comes the increased desire to build the right packaging.  As this is a very large and really saturated industry, you want to make sure that you stand out. Plus, you want to make sure that the packaging you have also is made for the items inside. Here, we’ll go over the different subscription box packaging that will make you stand out.

The Factors to Consider

There are a few things that one needs to remember about their packaging when building subscription boxes.

First, the durability and shipping protection. This is especially true when you have fragile items, or luxury items for your packaging. The last thing people want is the items haphazardly thrown there, put together in a slipshod way.   The product does need to be packaged with the intent to protect the items.

The second is the unboxing experience. Unboxing is huge, and if you wish to delight your customers, you want to make sure that you have the best unboxing experience possible. This is aptly done through presentation, especially with unique additives and incentives.   Make sure that the items are neatly arranged in a manner that builds excitement for customers. Throwing in a freebie or even just a thank-you note also creates a great impression.

Finally, you want the branding and customization for the deliveries that recur.   If you want to be successful with subscriptions, they do need to make sure that they build an incentive to reorder every month, or every bit of time.   You should brand the boxes, and from there, customize each one.

Some examples of this include the Pusheen boxes.   Pusheen is a cat that a lot of people love. Their boxes have the unique branding of Pusheen on them, along with bright, pastel colors that are similar to the cat themselves.   Inside, there are unique Pusheen-brand items. Housed in these boxes, the items are great for a lot of people. With different seasonal items, it adds a unique flavor to the customer’s experience.

Consider sustainability

You should, when building these boxes, always try to fit the brand’s outlook and ideas. This may mean, in lots of cases, also incorporating sustainability.

Sustainability in your packaging builds a lot of customer loyalty and reputation.   You should try to utilize eco friendly practices and materials, if only to really home in the brand’s commitment to sustainability.

Some of the more wilderness and outdoors-focused brands use these natural packaging options, and it does create some excitement for a lot of people.

There is, however, the balancing of costs and the impact on the environment.   You should make sure that if you plan to utilize eco-friendly materials, that the items are as well, sustainable and ethically sourced, so that many people can benefit from this.

The Future Trends

There are future trends that come with these box packaging.

Using QR codes is one of them. A QR code that takes the person to social media sites, or a place to write their reviews and thoughts, is a great way to get people to adequately respond to the current feedback of the box. It also builds, through this as well, better understanding of the brand’s intentions. Many customers love this, and a QR code is a simple addition.

Same goes for Ar. Using AR helps to connect with customers in unique ways.

Overall, subscription boxes are growing in popularity, and here we went over some of the top emergent trends and ideas to make them work, no matter the product.

The most Important Box Packaging Mistakes to Avoid

Looking to take your packaging to the next level? Choosing the right box design matters, but there are a few things that you need to avoid, in order to prevent possible issues with branding differentiation. Now sure what they are? Here are some of the most common mistakes people make when they’re designing boxes!

Neglecting the brand consistency

Your packaging and branding is a representation of the identity of the brand. One of the biggest things is to craft packaging that won’t’ align with the aesthetic. Consistency does go across all of these touch points, from the logo that you have to the color palette that’s there to even imagery and typography, reinforcing the branding to make this recognizable. Make sure that you have a consistently recognized and know what it is before making packaging

Ignoring Practicality

While aesthetics matter, the practicality needs to not be compromised.

Overly intricate, complex designs do look good at first, but if it’s hard to open up, put together, heck even use this, a lot of customers get upset.

The user experience is ideal for great packaging, and it’s vital from the assembly to even intuitive usage and secure closures. Packaging needs to not only look great but function great.

For instance, boxes that are big and deep can be used to house the toy that’s in there. Sometimes they also work as hangers or even desk organizers.  This is good for providing a popular way to repurpose packaging with your customers.

Failing to prioritize the Material Quality

Packaging is a tactile sort of experience. When materials are bad, it diminishes the product’s value. opt for something that’s strong enough to house the item. If it’s too flimsy, it can impact the product's strength and the trust of customers. High-quality materials also include those that are durable.

Rigid boxes and cardboard are aesthetically pleasing and great for people to use, based on the branding and products.

Ignoring sustainability

If you ignore your eco friendly activities, it shows that you don’t care about the planet to customers.

Incorporating sustainable items to minimize the waste and explore different reusability and recyclability options is great for brands. Ti also does align with the societal push towards more responsible consumption of items.

Boxes are sustainable as they are made from kraft paper and cardboard that’s recyclable, biodegradable, and even can incorporate other plant-based items such as plastics and ink.

Ignoring the clarity and Hierarchy

If you don’t really pay attention to the box packaging, it can misalign people. You want to make sure that the critical parts of your packaging such as the name of the product, the features, and the benefits in more obscure spots can impact the customer’s overall opinion on the brand. If it's hard to read, that drives them away.

Establish a good design hierarchy, to ensure that essential information is always visible, and even comprehensible, even at a first glance.

Misjudging Audiences

If you have a target audience, you need to focus your packaging on this.

Packaging that does appeal to younger people will not always connect with older audiences.

If you have an audience of older people, incorporating youthful and immature packaging will drive them away.

The best way to prevent this one is to do market research and look at the preferences of the target audiences, the values, and the aesthetics. Form the tailor these designs so that they speak to people.

Avoid these mistakes, and you’ll have some high-quality packaging that works great for people and can really enhance the experience.

The Benefits of Multi-Carrier Shipping

For a lot of companies, they’ll just use one carrier and then call it a day. One carrier is good for simplifying, but multiple carriers are the way for you to go.  Why is this important? Well, here are a few reasons for using multi-carrier shipping for you to use and benefit from.

Provides immunity

Carriers do get overloaded for a variety of different reasons.  Holidays, back to school, and the like can make it a nightmare. While a warehouse benefits by relying on one carrier for simplifying, immunity is better with multiple carriers. That’s because when you’ve got multiple carriers, it prevents slowdown in the event of a shutdown, or on strike.

For instance, when UPS faced a strike, the strike threatened almost 19 million different shipments and deliveries a day.  You don’t want this to happen, as this can ruin the revenue of a business.

This is also good too in the event of outages. Multiple carriers improves the shipping process, and helps you continue to run your business despite the major changes.

More Choices

There is far more flexibility with multiple carriers. Like with deliveries that are trying to rely on multiple companies, if you have issues with one, you risk losing the product.  You want to also look for the best method of shipping, which you don’t get with one carrier.

Some logistics coordinators might have a hard time choosing the best shipping for parcels if there is one carrier. There is also a larger risk of the carrier missing delivery dates, and they might not offer shipping discounts.

A lot of warehouse managers do limit this, but the thing is, it also limits the shipping software that’s used. This is due to the fact that a lot of carriers offer different times for transit, different networks, and also different methods to ship these packages. This might not align with the needs of a business in a lot of different cases.

When you’ve got multiple carries, you’ve got different zone maps that offer better flexibility. This also offers better shipping software to meet the goals of the delivery, and different carriers based on the needs of the business.

Package Diversification

There is also a chance for you to diversify these options. This is because not every network is created equal. Some of these work better in certain parts of the US, whereas in others, it’s not very good.

This is why it’s good to have more than one option.

It also gives warehouses a chance to streamline deliveries, scale all of this as well based on the changes seasonally. Some warehouses can also alternate, choosing different carriers to offer a more cost-effective and better solution during newer product drops. This is also good when there is a lot of demand. This can help a lot of businesses save a bunch of money and time. It also sets brands apart with more streamlined shipping, and even methods of delivery.

When you’re choosing the correct strategy for shipping, you’ve got to look at different shipping types and even networks to determine the ideal one for operations. Whether it’s immunity for more different options, there are a lot of benefits that warehouses are able to leverage when they use multiple carriers for shipping. When you consider these benefits, you’ll be able to determine the multi carrier shipping options. This improves the strategies for a lot of businesses, and also enhances the productivity of a lot of companies in a lot of different ways, enhancing their ability to do so much more as well when they’re selling.

Trends in Custom Cardboard boxes

Custom boxes are now more popular than ever before and they’ve revolutionized business packaging and the products within. They’re practical, easy on the wallet, and are eco-friendly for delivering various items that might be fragile. They’re also a wonderful opportunity for marketing and branding, especially for companies that have no storefront other than on the screen. Here, we’ll go over the hottest cardboard boxes trends, and various things that have recently gained major traction for companies.

Being Eco Friendly

The first trend that you’ve got to look at is being eco friendly. This is a trend that’s great for a lot of businesses, and boxes just manage to do that. With growing awareness of various ecological problems coming up, the world wants more sustainability. Customers are now more aware than before when it comes to various materials in the products that they get. This also is where packaging comes into this.  It's something that a lot of people also know, and even the fashion world is using this.  The eschewing of various plastics, and other options that aren’t degradable is also popular.

Part of the reason why people love cardboard boxes is because they use sources that are sustainable.

Personalize It

In our digital world, people want a unique experience that’s tailored to them.

Personal touches such as a custom design, message, or even names of customers on boxes are what create memorable, personalized unboxing experiences for the customers, and also secures repeated customs.

Even packages that aren’t usually personal have started to embrace this.

Many companies have taken it to their boxes to get personal. You can craft tailor-made boxes to your experience, and even various puzzles and the like that’ll be accessed with smartphones. This engages the user, but also heightens the excitement and the anticipation. It also creates a unique buzz as well around companies if you use this.

Make it Eye Catching.

Another trend in the boxing world is eye-catching graphics. Colors that are vibrant and shapes that are geometric are important in the branded boxes world.

Did you know that over 70% of customers would buy a box that’s appealing visually, and is eye-catching? With a lot of people looking for this type of packaging, one trend in boxes that’s getting all sorts of attention is looking visually appealing.

It stands out and grabs a customer’s attention to convey the identity of the brand.

One reason for graphics is because of psychology.  It’s a visual stimulus that’s conscious of doing and not just the shipping choices that have to do with packaging. Colors, shapes, and the like affect our imaginations, evokes memories, and arouses plenty of feelings. It furthermore of course, impacts the wallets too.

When businesses hardness this, it really helps with hitting on the packaging needs for products.

Get minimal

Minimalism is in.  while you may think eye-catching is being in your face, but not really. Shapes that are simple, such as organic forms of such, are very popular. Less does mean more in a lot of cases.

Nature

Nature does a lot for one’s well-being. With the desire of customers to shop at more eco friendly places, it is the best branding chance.

Incorporating nature into one’s design fosters peacefulness, organic shapes, and natural parts. Consumers also like the associations that a business has.

It’s calming, and with nature, you’re also getting the benefits. It does lower one’s blood pressure and reduces stress and strains. Harness it, along with these other unique trends, and you will succeed.

These trends are what matter, so make sure to use them.

Cosmetic Packaging and Its Impact

Cosmetic packaging is something that you want to make sure is high-octane, and beautiful to behold.  Many consumers buy this stuff, and to create the ideal packaging experience, you want to make sure that it’s both linear, but also offers a unique effect for various people.

First, is the box.  The boxes need to be linear, because the eyes naturally focus in that way.  It’s a box that’s linear, and these designs offer different shakes, from blues to purples, and the like, which offer a contrast that’s higher with the background that’s black.  This is, of course, a unique, fun type of packaging that works.

You want to make sure that you have flaps that alternate on this, so that they can throw this in there, and then close it without any problems. That, combined with the linear design, offers a unique, fun way for you to create and craft the ideal boxes that you can.

When you’re printing this, they come in digital printing for unique, and small designs, so that if you’re not sure on whether or not you should go with specific designs, you can test this. It uses the typical four-color process to offer a very distinct, different type of packaging look to it, creating distinct and unique packaging to choose from.

Now, let’s talk about the box. Most of the time, when you’re putting these products in there, they already have their primary packaging in place. That’s the vessel that contains the packaging product, such as the cream for a lot of people to use. If you’re selling day cream or something, then the cream box is exactly what the primary packaging is.

Then there is the secondary packaging that you want to make sure that you go for.  Choose the right packaging colors for your needs to make this shine. For instance, if you like to use purples and blues, create that color scheme.

As for the front of the box, keep it simple and sleek. Maybe show a graphic of a person, or the product, along with the name of the product that’s on there.

Then, you have the sides of this product, which is where the fun can be. These can offer all of the benefits of the product, or other fun information. If you’ve got a social media page, then you can also incorporate that into the design in order to improve the packaging and get people excited.

Finally, you’ve got the top of the box, which shows the name of the product. Keep the graphics simple.

As for the information about the product such as ingredients, you can put this on the back as well to get people to read them, since they may need to see this before they pick up any of these, so they don’t have to worry about allergens.

If there are any specific parts to this that you should be mindful about, such as it containing an allergen and whatnot, always make sure that it sits there.  you should always make sure that you take some time and work on making sure the product has everything that you need to incorporate.

Building the ideal cosmetics packaging can be a little bit of a struggle for some brands. Luckily, the right packaging sits right there, ready for you to use in a ton of cases. The best thing to do in that instance is to find the right packaging that works for your needs, and from there, design it so that it shines, and from there, really stands out at the end of the day.

Hangable Packaging for Printing Cartridges

Cartridges used to print out stuff in your printer are packaged in a different way. One unique way that people do this is to have them as a hanging package and placed near the counters where a person checks out. This is because, like other goods and the like, when you put them near the checkout counters, more and more people will see them. Shelves are good for a linear presentation, but they are a bit static, almost boring in a sense. Hanging boxes that are placed on displays on these racks breaks the typical linearity, and it attracts consumer attention.

This development and unique approach follows a certain aspect called visual display, which is actually linked directly to the habits of a customer, and the reduction of the spaces that are dedicated to every single product.

Cartridges for printers for example, are a product that a lot of times people use in this way. The cartridges are thrown onto hooks distanced in the appropriate manner, and then provides a unique distinction when compared to the other competitors. Another thing that’s good with this type of strategy too, is that it provides a faster restocking for the employees.

Cartridges that are displayed in this way provide more attention, and thereby tend to be much more marketable.

The aesthetics that come with packaging are a major deal breaker for sales. Communication, personalization, and other aspects of packaging are key parts when looking at branding and success.

You want to build packaging that really goes and stands out. For instance, many companies will use hanging packaging that starts out with a plain white box, and then, they delineate each of the different types of cartridges based on the colors that are there. with a simple typeface, this is one of the best ways for you to get the most that you can out of this.

Another unique sort of packaging is a packaging that houses the cartridge, but flips over on itself, creating a thin packaging using a paper material that holds this item.  With the large logo situated in the center, this is but one of the many ways to improve this.

Canon also tried something else that’s different, especially when compared to each of the different companies that are touted there.

They created thin, foldable packaging that works for hanging items.  These come in different colors and has their name and a logo on there.  to open this, you pull the front apart, and then pull the back of the packaging upwards.  It provides a n economical space that goes along with this, creating a whimsical, unique sort of packaging that provides a fun means for you to build the best packaging that you can, especially when you’re trying to make a packaging that really stands out, and looks great too.

Finally, coloring does matter.  Some companies, like HP, have decided to go with a darker type of face for the packaging. The black, with the color of the ink that’s in a unique font, helps it stand out. The cube packaging makes it easy for a lot of people, especially when they get this packaging, to create the best types of packaging that are out there, and to build a lot of fun, exciting aspects that can really shine when you’re looking at the overall picture.

In general, the correct packaging you use does matter, and through this, you’re able to build the ideal packaging that people can love, and packaging that, through this, can drive customer sales as well.

Eco Friendly Dyes and inks: How to Mark your Packages ass Sustainable

Packaging does need ink for their items. It tells you what it is, and also gives you important information. However, traditional inks and dyes are made from petroleum. This is a problem, because that is not a sustainable material. Companies are starting to use printing alternatives that are eco friendly, such as those from soy, water, and algae based types of packaging, especially if you’re someone who cares about the environment at hand.

The elements of Printing that’s Ecofriendly

Eco Friendly printing requires inks and dyes that are recyclable and biodegradable. So that, when the box is discarded, they are tossed away too. One big problem with current packaging is that a lot of the inks and dyes that are used are not sustainable. In that case, it takes more work during the recycling process, especially since it requires them to get rid of the ink first before discarding the box.

There is also the problem of sometimes you can’t, so it ends up making it so that the box is not recyclable. This is a big problem for a lot of businesses, as it means that they aren’t totally sustainable.

But, with eco-friendly inks and dyes, you reduce the chemicals that are harmful during the printing aspects and process, making it so that you’re able to, with this as well, give the most sustainable process that you can.

Reducing these chemicals means that you’re making the packaging eco-friendly, and easy to dispose of. This can mean a whole different world for some of those packaging companies that might not be able to have this otherwise.

Types of Eco Friendly Inks dc

There are some eco-friendly inks that do stand out.

Soy based ones are quite common. Soybeans, when sustainably farmed and sourced, are great for packaging elements. Already used for void fill, you can break these down to create inks.

There are also algae based inks, made from seaweed too. another sustainable material that’s great for your packaging.   It is plant-based, so you will be able to dispose of it accordingly.

Finally, there is water, which is ink that’s made from water. The easiest to source and get rid of, it’s good if you want to be able to just wash off the packaging. This type of ink really comes off when you discard the box and turn it into pulp, so it’s easy to work with.

The benefits and Challenges

With plant-based inks and eco-friendly inks, you are able to lower the environmental impact. Reducing the need to use petrol for inks is important. It’s very easy to toss, and also quite sustainable too, hence why more people are using this.

The biggest challenge for these inks is the vibrancy and colors, making them last a while. While it does look good, it runs into the challenge of really lasting a while.  Water based packaging ink for instance, does come off with water, which might be a problem over time.

The other problem is the costs too. it does cost a bit more to source and use these inks, which is what a lot of people struggle with using. In this instance, just creating a packaging vibrancy that stands out can be a challenge, especially when you don't want to break the bank.

The solution to this is to ask a packaging specialist about this, and to help, throughout all this, give you the packaging that’s good for quality, and also creates an impact that’s sustainable.   You can make the printing eco friendly, while also not sacrificing the visuals with the right steps you implement.
